Latte Mamma

Latte Mamma provided by Sassy Studio Designs

This is the 2nd week of an Anything Goes Challenge  at Aud Sentiments sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs. This challenge ends on Tuesday, Jan 27, so you have a week to get up to 5 projects entered for a chance at a WIN!  The Team has a delicious set of inspiration projects for you - take a look!

[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • I wanted to try my hand at this card base concept I have seen popping up here and there.  In my version, the base consists of 2 separate pieces of CS that when folded in half are 1.5 x 4.25 in. each.  The two halves are separated by approximately 0.5 in. and then taped securely to the oval mat for my focal image.  In this 2nd photo you can see there is a 2nd oval, matching the first, that has been fastened to the inside securing the 2 backs of the base card.
  • Also visible from this angle is the Paper Tole or Paper Sculpting that has been done with the image.  This involves printing 3 copies, coloring them with Copics, fussy cutting and 'paper sculpting' the image.  Her slacks are paper pieced.  The cup and her earring have been covered with Duo Glue and then foil applied.
  • The sentiment is a Freebie provided by Ginny H - one of the Senior Designers at Aud Sentiments.
This card should be eligible for the following

Winnie the Pooh Day...

"Winter Cocoa" provided by Sami Stamps
My youngest brother is 10 years my junior - and when he was small, I read Winnie the Pooh to him over and over and... over!  Many of the quotes are still in my head like this one from Eeyore: "Thank you Pooh.  You're a real friend, not like some."  To this day my nickname for my bro is still "Pooh"!
613 Ave C  is celebrating the day with a challenge theme based on Winnie the Pooh!  The sponsors will be Fitztown and Sami Stamps and the details of the challenge can be found by clicking here.  You should also check out the theme interpretations from my teammates - there are some great things to inspire you!  You have till next Saturday to submit up to 3 projects for a chance at the two prizes this go around.

On this card I used two different Spellbinders Dies - the oval set used for the sentiment, image and their mats, and the border die set.  A Cottage Cutz Die was used to create the clouds which have been mounted on foam tape for dimension.  After cutting the white CS border, I backed up that front panel with a Navy Blue CS underneath.  The image has been colored with Copics.

Thank yous...

I really hate repeating one design... but limiting myself to 5 of one design for "special" circumstances is definitely bearable!

This rubber stamp is a favorite from a 1997 Del Rose Stamping Co. -colored with my Copics.  The sentiment is by Kathy Davis from Inkadinkadoo.  Finally I added the red and green ribbon with a single or double bow to the image panel, mounted that on a white card stock base and I'm done!
Had my thank you's out by Jan 3 - yea!

A New Home...

This is my first time to use pre-colored images.  These cuties are from a bundle provided by Kris at Imagine That for a challenge that just ended at Aud Sentiments.  Because I have been out of circulation for awhile, I missed the release date, but I still want to show you the possibilities.
The purple is a handmade envelope to accommodate the odd size I chose to use for my card base of 6 x 4.25.  For my background I ripped strips of paper and then used a lavender Distress Ink and water on the edges.  I printed out two copies each of each of the images I would be using [the igloo, two children and the bear cub].  Since they were all pre-colored I could skip the time consuming coloring [I must admit, this part really felt like cheating for me since coloring with my Copics is so much a part of my card making!]  The images were all fussy cut, sculpted and layered with foam tape to add dimension.  I finished with two of my teammate's word art sentiments - thank you Ginny H!  I can see why the popularity of the pre-colored images have grown - for people who don't like to color - or who are under a tight deadline [or just plain really late like me!]

Cupcake Honey

Cupcake Honey provided by Scrapper's Delights
First Challenge of the New Year at 613 Ave C is to "Make a Matching Envelope".  My DT project  features the charming 'Cupcake Honey' from Scrapper's Delights .  The 613 DT has a multitude of great examples for you - with images from either Scrapper's Delights or Lacy Sunshine who are our sponsors this go around!  To join the challenge - you can find details at 613 Ave C!

 TECHNIQUE
  • Two sheets of 12 x 12' paper used for the envelope and the background for the front and inside of the A2 size card. Corner Chomper used to create 1/2 in. round corners.
  • Four different sizes of a scalloped-oval die set was used for the main image, the address label on the envelope and the mat for each of them.
  • Top Tip Tuesday: I did not have the right color paper for the mats, so I colored the white with Copics to match the blue in the background paper.
  • For the focal image I used a Paper Tole Technique with 3 printed copies of the image, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' all the layers.
  • A double bow was created with my Proctor Bow Maker - ribbon from stash.
